Discover our range of unique, private Highland Cow encounters at Roundoak Farm — perfect for couples, families, friends and animal lovers alike. Each experience is an exclusive one-hour session giving you the chance to meet, and learn about our friendly Highland cattle up close.
Choose from our Private Experience for Two (£65) or make it a Family Experience (£85) for two adults and up to three children.
For something extra special, try our Coo’s and Cuppa — a one-hour Highland Cow experience followed by handmade Afternoon Tea boxes served in our atmospheric Yard Bar, complete with unlimited tea and coffee (£105 for two people).
Please note, this is a relaxed, rustic-style afternoon tea rather than a traditional table service.

As we are a working farm, we kindly ask that you request your booking in advance so we can check farm schedules and ensure your visit is viable for your chosen day.
Please also note that Roundoak Farm is not a leisure farm and is only open to visitors with pre-booked appointments.

What to Expect
Your Highland Cow Experience may vary slightly depending on the time of year, but you’ll always enjoy the same full one-hour private session and a tour in our farm buggy or Land Rover Defender.
Autumn & Winter (November – April)
At Roundoak Farm, the wellbeing of our animals and the long-term health of our land are always our top priorities. During the colder, wetter months, our Highland cattle move into their spacious winter barns. This isn’t just to keep them comfortable — it’s also an important part of responsible farming and land management.
Highland cows are large, heavy animals, and when the ground becomes soft and muddy, their hooves can easily damage the pasture. If they were to stay in the fields through winter, the soil would become compacted and churned up, which would stop new grass from growing properly in spring.
By bringing the herd into the barns, we protect the fields and allow the land time to rest and recover, ensuring rich, healthy grazing when the warmer months return.
Our barns provide warm, dry shelter with plenty of space, fresh bedding, and regular feeding. From the barn you’ll have the chance to get up close to our iconic Highland cattle, learn about their care and history. Again, this experience will still encounter our farm buggy's or Defenders.
For safety reasons, we don’t enter the main barn — which houses around 35 Highlanders and their young — but you’ll still be able to get wonderfully close for photos.
Spring & Summer
When the fields are lush and green, your experience takes you out into the open pastures. You’ll travel by buggy through the fields, meeting our Highlanders as they graze and roam freely — a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the Kent countryside at its best.
Regardless of the season, every experience includes the special opportunity to step into the pen with Daniella, our friendly and tame Highland cow, where you can stroke, brush, and capture photos with her — a truly unforgettable highlight!
