You’ll then travel around the farm by buggy, visiting the areas where the livestock are grazing that day. Highland cattle will be among the highlights, but your host will also introduce you to Roundoak’s wider rare-breed work.
Depending on the season and the location of the animals, you may see breeds such as Vaynol and Irish Moiled cattle, along with Hebridean, Boreray and North Ronaldsay sheep.

The experience changes with the seasons. During the summer, you’ll travel aboard our farm buggy for an informative journey through the fields, where our Highland cattle graze in the Kent countryside. In winter, the visit moves into the farm buildings, the tour will still go between both site on our farm buggy, but not out in the fields, allowing you to explore the barns on foot and enjoy more time observing the cattle at close quarters.
Along the way, you’ll hear stories about the animals, learn about their individual characteristics and discover why responsible breeding and conservation grazing are so important to their future.
There will be opportunities to stop and take photographs against the beautiful Kent countryside. Where conditions allow, you may also spend time closer to some of the animals. However, every visit is led by the needs of the livestock, so touching, feeding or direct interaction cannot be promised.
This is an authentic look behind the scenes of a working rare-breed farm—not a staged petting attraction. The route and animals encountered may change with the weather, season and daily running of the farm, making every visit a little different.
